  Introduction to VBA for ArcMap  
 
 
 

This introductory programming course covers the fundamentals of VBA in the ArcGIS Desktop environment. The course is designed for programmers at a beginner or intermediate level. Course participants will be led through a series of five modules covering topics such as the customization of the ArcMap interface, variables and procedures, custom form creation, branching and looping, as well as classes and objects.

 
 
  This course is designed for beginner to intermediate level ArcGIS programmers who wish to learn the basics of customizing the ArcGIS Desktop interface and develop VBA macros and simple programs.  
 
  Internet Browser (recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0)
 
 

ArcGIS Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo license) 9.x

  After successfully completing this course you will have acquired a number of new skills related to customizing the ArcGIS Desktop environment including:  
  The ability to modify and customize the ArcGIS Desktop visual interface.  
  An understanding of the major components of the Visual Basic Editor included with ArcGIS Desktop.  
  An understanding of the fundamentals of VBA including variables, procedures, functions, branching and looping structures, user forms, classes and objects.  
  How to create custom user forms for advanced user input.
  Fundamental knowledge of classes and objects and how they are used in a programming language.
  An introduction to COM classes and the fundamental role they play in ArcObjects development.
